About the project
Dr. Shroff operates multiple centers for high-quality, low-cost eye care serving the rural poor across India.
This branch in Uttar Pradesh experienced daily power cuts lasting multiple hours, and relied on diesel generators. E-Hands installed a clean energy mini-grid which completely replaced grid power and reduced diesel consumption by up to 70%.
Impact
With the new mini-grid, the hospital is expected to save $60k USD per year on energy costs. The hospital is using the money saved to provide free cataract eye surgery to an additional 1,000 people each year.
